Link Wray was a great innovator. I'd call him the Father of Hard Rock
Check out one of his songs"Deuces Wild": is the birth of Hard Rock.

Link not being in the R&R Hall of Fame used to piss me off to no end. He should have been a charter inductee. Now I'm looking at, screw the organization, rock and roll is rebellion. Link, continue to rebel!!!!!

If Jimmy Page is the father of Metal Rock n Roll, Link Wray is
definitely the "Grand Daddy" of Metal Rock n Roll, for all time!

He, above all, deserve to be in Hall of Fame on the guitar throne!
God Bless!

I was born in 1945..Grew up with the Rock and Roll ..I feel it was a special time in my life..I am a church attending Christian now and have reservations about the messages back then..I was a totally afraid of girls but wished I could have come out of my shell then instead of much later.
I like to mimic Link's Rumble on my Gibson 335..sounds cool..I hope Link is with Christ now.

I grew up in the DC area in the late fifties and sixties and I can tell you EVERYTHING began with Link Wray. At dances, we always wanted Link...sometimes Duane, often Elvis but ALWAYS Link. That's when the real dancing began. I was lucky enough to see him live several times, mostly in smaller clubs, and he blew the room away every time. He was a one-of-a-kind original who broke uncut ground for hundreds to follow, many of whom are in the Hall already. Vote him in NOW and knock off the childish nonsense. He's one of the greatest of all time.

Kudos to you for this site! It is an excellent & necessary tribute to one of the greatest rockers of all time! Having done a Surf show in Cleveland for 4 years, I can ultimately attest to the enormous influence this legendary performer had not only on the instrumental surf genre, but on shaping rock n roll for generations to come after the "first wave" of surf. Thanks again, and count me in immediately for signing the petition to have this world-renowned legend inducted into the Rock Hall, and thus finally lending a piece of dignity to this oft-criticized venue.
